چکیده

We discuss in this publication the power spectral density (PSD) of some common time hopping impulse radio signals. Both analytical expressions and simulation results for the PSD are provided. The impact of the PSD on the transmitted power is analyzed in respect to the Federal Committee on Communications regulations on UWB emissions.

Analysis of UWB Interference to MPSK Narrowband Receivers

This paper studies the in-band interference of time-hopping spread spectrum (TH-SS) ultra-wideband (UWB) signals to narrowband receivers. Based on the analysis of general power spectral density (PSD) of TH-SS UWB signal, the interference of UWB signal is partitioned into two parts: (1) additive white Gaussian noise interference, and (2) jamming tone interference. Following this framework, a nov...

Ultrawideband Communications - An Overview

This paper presents an overview of ultrawideband (UWB) communications systems, i.e., systems with very large relative and/or absolute bandwidth. The large bandwidth and low power spectral density mandated for UWB systems allows to use them as overlay over existing (legacy) systems, i.e., they can be used in the same frequency range as existing systems without causing undue interference. We also...

Fluid coding and coexistence in ultra wide band networks

Time Hopping Ultra Wide Band (TH UWB) commonly encodes the data symbols by shifting the position of the transmitted pulses by a quantity that is quantized over the inter-pulse interval range. In this paper, we relax the hypothesis of a discrete value for the time shift introduced by the TH code, by considering the possibility of generating real-valued codes that introduce time hopping in a flui...

A Robust Reception of IEEE 802.15.4a IR-TH UWB in Dense Multipath and Gaussian Noise

IEEE 802.15.4a impulse radio-time hopping ultra wide band (IR-TH UWB) physical layer, due to small duty cycle and very short pulse widths is robust against multipath propagation. However, scattering and reflections with the large number of obstacles in indoor channel environments, give rise to dense multipath fading. It imposes serious problem to optimum Rake receiver architectures, for which v...

Spectral Density of Random Time -Hopping Spread-Spectrum UWB Signals with Uniform Timing Jitter

We derive the power spectral density of timehopping (TH) spread-spectrum signals in the presence of random timing jitter, which is characterized typically by a discrete-time stationary process (independent of the TH sequences). Detailed descriptions of different TH schemes, employing a random TH sequence, is given and spectral analysis of such TH signals in the presence of uniform timing jitter...
